Charlottesville Virginia Film Portrait Photographer | Carter Mountain Orchard | Sidney Gardner

October 11, 2016

I met this sweet girl for the first time at Carter Mountain a couple weeks ago and I felt like we were kindred spirits. I already felt like I knew her for some reason, even though we had only emailed. Maybe it was because we were similar in age and both photographers — that’s probably why. Haha. Sidney is currently getting her website redone by GoLive, who did mine and I’m SO thrilled for her because I know it’ll be amazing! She works as an architect right now near Baltimore and does photography on the side but she’s excited to take her business to the next level by getting a professional rebrand which is launching soon. We had the best time up at Carter Mountain getting some new headshots for her site. I was completely in love with the dress she wore. I think she got dizzy from all the spinning I made her do to get that flowing movement in the fabric. Ha!

Not only is Sidney gorgeous but she has such a giving heart. As we were nearing the end of the shoot in the orchard, Sidney looked down and saw what looked like a lens about to start rolling down the hill. She asked if it was mine and I picked it up and said, “No, this isn’t mine but I can’t believe someone dropped this! It looks like a nice piece of glass.” Two minutes later, I realized it actually was mine. Whoops! The front part of my 85mm had fallen out! CRAZY! I had just gotten that lens back from Canon and I still cannot believe that happened. The week I shot her portraits was the busiest week of the year for me with nonstop shoots and weddings. The next day I had an elopement and since my 85mm is my favorite lens, I really didn’t want to shoot without it but I also knew there was no way I could have had Canon send me a loaner on such short notice. Well, precious Sidney had her 85mm 1.2 with her and she loaned hers to me for the rest of the week!! Honestly, I don’t know what I would have done without her! She saved the day!!

So with that being said, here are a few of my favorites from her shoot! 🙂 Sidney, thanks for having me do these!! Can’t wait to see your site!
