Kaneohe Hawaii Photographer | Kualoa Ranch | Lauren + Josh

March 17, 2017

When I travel, I always try to book at least one shoot. I’ve said it so many times but I love traveling; capturing couples in new locations is the most inspiring thing to me. I am captivated by new sights and I love getting to use that creativity when posing a couple. I had reached out to a few people in Hawaii about me photographing them while I was there and Lauren was one of those people. She ended up responding that she and her husband Josh would be free! It’s funny because Sunny, who we were staying with, invited us on a hike with some friends of hers while we were there and Lauren ended up being part of that group! I didn’t realize that Sunny knew Lauren and had photographed her and Josh before. It was fun getting to meet her beforehand and hang out with her at the gorgeous river we hiked to!

Let it be known that I always have a hard time picking locations when I’m doing a shoot while traveling because I want it to be epic. I honestly could NOT decide this time, especially. I had a couple places in mind but I didn’t want to do my shoot at any of the spots I shot at the last time I was there and I hadn’t seen the new places people recommended. I know I could have easily picked a random beach and it would have been fine but when Lauren mentioned this private beach and dock area that we’d have to walk to, I knew I was in. It sounded right down my alley and I couldn’t wait! As soon as we stepped foot on the beach, the turquoise water was rolling up on shore toward the palms, with the sun streaming through mountains in the background and I could have cried. The light was perfect. I started posing Lauren and Josh and immediately knew it was going to be a fun and easy shoot. These two have had plenty of opportunities to model since being in Hawaii and I can totally see why!! They are so sweet together. They have such laid back and genuine personalities — I could have hung out with them all day! What an incredible joy to get to capture this precious couple in my favorite place in the world. I am so excited to share these today!! Also, for future viewers of this post, I am ALWAYS up for coming back to Hawaii so please reach out if you’re interested in hiring me for a wedding, elopement, family shoot, or portrait shoot!
