Their love story as told by Kait:
The way Ryan came into my life was perfect proof for me that everything happens for a reason. We had always known each other or of each other through mutual friends and involvement in Clarion University athletics when I was an undergrad and he was in graduate school but we were only friends by association. I had just moved back to Clarion to start graduate school the summer of 2013 when we ran into each other. Ryan repeatedly asked me how his faux hawk looked which made me constantly crack up. I saw him many times throughout that summer — some on accident and some on purpose. When he was working at Clarion basketball camps I went to the gym just about everyday to get a chance to run into him. By that time, he had gotten his job in Franklin and had told me he was moving back to Clarion for good. I really just wanted to be friends. I wasn’t sure where graduate school was taking me but Ryan’s consistent confidence made me quickly forget that. Anytime we would see each other he would tell me how much he liked me and how great we would be together and then would get down on one knee — yes even at the bar — and propose to me. He must have proposed to me at least 15 times. I can still remember his goofy grin and him saying “Kait Anderson, will you marry me?” I always said “YES.” When we finally went on our first date I saw from the very beginning how patient, loving, and goofy Ryan was and how I could really see myself spending the rest of my life with him. We had ups and down throughout graduate school, mainly because I was not sure where I was going to be and how we were actually going to get jobs near each other but throughout that entire time Ryan always would respond “It doesn’t matter. We’re meant to be together and we’ll find a way to be together.” I am in awe of his patience, love and support that he has shown me and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
Their love story as told by Ryan:
My first encounters with Kaitlyn were mostly involving Clarion University sports. She was a volleyball player and I was in my last year and a half of undergrad, while also being an assistant coach on the men’s basketball team. We would cross paths but mostly only knew each other through seeing each other in the famed Tippin Gym. Fast forward to my second year as Graduate Assistant — Kaitlyn and I started to run into each other more often. Upon completing my Master’s Degree, I moved home for the summer to start the job hunt. Ironically Kaitlyn was living in Clarion that summer for graduate school but still had come back to Clarion for my annual summer vacation at Clarion University basketball camp. On my first night back in Clarion, I ran into Kaitlyn at the one and the only Toby Hill Bar & Grill and we proceeded to have quite the eventful night with a few of our mutual friends. That night started a friendship that would blossom into the love that you see today. Over the next few months, I moved back to Clarion when I got my teaching job at Franklin Area High School and we hung out a lot. I’m not going to lie and say I knew she was the one right away but I knew she was someone very special. It wasn’t until my birthday night of that year in 2013 that I realized she was the one for me. Everything about her that night was radiant – her smile, her laugh, her style, her personality… It was that night that I knew Kaitlyn Frances Anderson needed to be mine for the rest of my life.
