If you’ve followed my blog at all, you know of my best friend Megan. Sometimes I look back at God’s provision in putting her in my life and I am absolutely blown away. We immediately clicked when I met her in early 2014 at a photography meet-up — I felt like I had known her all my life. Megan is such an easy person to get to know so I think that made our friendship grow faster than normal. We live two hours away and have only known each other for a couple years but somehow have managed to see each other what seems like every other month since then and because we’re both photographers and have similar schedules, we have been able to travel all over the U.S. together. There is no one who knows me better than this sweet girl. The ups and downs we’ve experienced together in such a short time have been so special and I’m SO thankful for her life.

One of the first things I learned about Megan the day I met her was that she’d been dating her boyfriend Justin for five years and how ready she was to be engaged and married. As we became closer friends, the topic of marriage came up a lot and I was able to walk through that phase in her life with her. Maybe I wasn’t the best person to walk through that phase with her considering I was single and had no idea what dating someone for five years was like, but I tried so hard. Haha!! Megan, I’m sorry if you ever took any of my advice. 😉

Anyway, time slowly ticked on that year but December of 2014 eventually rolled around. Megan has family in Germany so they had planned a big Christmas trip and Justin was coming along. She was having major anxiety about whether Justin would propose on the trip but ultimately, she really didn’t think he would. I was back and forth every single day before they left but at the time I didn’t know Justin well so I had NO idea what was going to happen. After some travel setbacks for the two of them on the way to Germany, like getting stranded in Iceland and Paris alone, Justin and Megan finally met the rest of her family in Munich. Because they were a few days late getting there, they missed their Neuschwanstein tour which was the one thing Megan was most excited about. It was her dream to go there with Justin. They didn’t end up going on the tour but they did go later that week to see the castle. Justin had planned all along to propose and although there were a few wrenches in his original plan, he rolled with it and found the perfect overlook and believe it or NOT, he proposed in front of Neuschwanstein Castle! AHHH! What a dream. Megan had waited so long for this, which made it all the more exciting. I remember getting the FaceTime call while I was in Starbucks and I think I screamed. Whoops. Forgot I was in public. It was the first time I’ve had a really close friend get engaged and I was SO happy for her.

They’ve finally settled most of their wedding plans and will be getting married this May at Big Spring Farm with Katelyn James as the photographer, which are two things Megan’s dreamed of for a while. I can’t WAIT to stand beside her and cry tears of joy as she walks down the aisle. But before that happens, there are a few festivities that have to take place!! One of those is the bridal shower, which we celebrated last weekend! Tessa, Megan’s maid of honor, did such a great job setting everything up and I’m glad I was able to be the designated photographer for the day. 🙂 I have been waiting to share these fun pictures with you! Megan, I hope you felt so special and loved at your shower! You deserve it!
