As of early January, Emily and Kyle have officially been married ONE year. I got an email from Emily a few months ago about her wanting to book an anniversary shoot with me and I was so excited because this isn’t something I get to do very often. I am usually celebrating proposals, engagements, and obviously weddings, but rarely do I get to spend time with a couple who has already been through a year of married life together. It’s fun to hear from couples like Emily and Kyle and see that their love for one another is just as strong as it was the year before, if not stronger.

Emily and Kyle really value photos because they didn’t grow up in families that took them very often. Now they wish they had more to look back on and they want to have those memories not only for themselves, but for their future kids and grandkids. That’s exactly why I do what I do so I loved that there was intentionality behind them hiring me.

Originally we planned our shoot for the day that Virginia got its first snow of the year!! I was actually really excited because it’s very rare that snow falls on the day of my shoots BUT the roads were a little rough and Emily had a sleeveless dress as one of her outfits so that would have been a bit brutal. Thankfully Buddy and Jill at Big Spring Farm, where we had planned to shoot, were open to us rescheduling and we literally couldn’t have picked a more perfect day. We had temperatures in the high 50s in the middle of January! I was thankful no one had to be bundled in seven layers. Haha!
