Last week was an unusual one but an unusually fun one. I somehow booked THREE proposals within a four day span. Usually I shoot a proposal every few months but to have three in one week is crazy! I guess it was a good week to get engaged because — spoiler alert — everyone said yes! I didn’t have the chance to meet Taylor at King Family beforehand but he seemed like such a sweet guy and I always know any guy who plans this type of surprise by hiring a photographer is a good guy. I arrived to King Family a few minutes before Taylor and Nenna did and I was sitting at the picnic table, trying not to look suspicious with a giant bag holding my camera and new 70-200mm lens, when I saw Taylor set out the picnic blanket and watched Nenna set down the wine. I was so giddy knowing what was about to happen.
Although King Family is open until 8:30 on Wednesdays, which is when this happened, the lawn was surprisingly free of people. I’ve had proposals there before where little kids are running all around so it was nice to know there was an open view of them and the mountains. I always find proposals so entertaining and funny because I literally can’t take my eyes off of the couple. I have an idea of when the guy will propose but I have to have my camera in my lap and be ready for when it happens. So everyone sitting around me definitely thought I was spying on them, especially as I pulled my 70-200 up to my face. And then everyone realizes…. Haha!! Taylor presented Nenna with a beautiful engraved box asking her to marry him and got down on one knee with one of the most intricate rings I’ve ever seen! It’s always the most joyful time to photograph a recently engaged couple and I absolutely LOVE getting to share in that! Taylor and Nenna, you both made my life a little sweeter with your kindness and love for each other! Thanks for trusting me to capture this moment!
