I had never done a session completely on film before this shoot with Drew and Elise. I always end up bringing my digital camera and being tempted to shoot with it simply for instant gratification. Film is challenging in so many ways and there’s a lot of fear that goes along with shooting it. Not only can you not see the back of your camera but you’re manually focusing everything. For fast-paced posing, that’s really hard! Haha! I really don’t shoot that much film on my paid shoots but it’s always a fun thing for me when I need a little change in my workflow and I love the challenge of it.
Elise is one of the very first paid clients I ever had when she graduated from high school and she works at Veritas Winery now and just started her own wedding planning business so when she mentioned having me come out to do a shoot on the property recently when they opened up their space for photographers in the area, I offered to photograph her and her boyfriend as practice for an all-film shoot and she thankfully agreed!! Elise took me to all the best spots on the property that I had actually never seen before and although it was HOT, it was the perfect night!! Elise and Drew were so fun to photograph together and we’ve both been texting each other back and forth impatiently for the last week or so waiting for the film scans from the Find Lab to show up in my inbox. AHHH!!! So glad the day finally came! Elise and Drew, thanks for being such great models and making this shoot so fun for me!!! Hope you love seeing a sneak peek of a few favorites and that you love them as much as I do!! Enjoy! And for those of you wondering, all of these were shot on the Contax 645 and Fuji 400H!
