Brian attended UVA and Tory attended UNC and it wasn’t until 2014 that their lives intersected for the first time. Brian and Tory met in March 2014 in South Carolina at a horse race called the Carolina Cup. Their paths crossed at the race by happenstance and from there, it was history. They started dating soon after and eventually Brian convinced Tory to come to a horse race here in Charlottesville called Foxfield. Considering they met at a horse race, that became a fun pastime for them. As they continued dating, Charlottesville became a more familiar place to Tory and Veritas Winery became the location where they decided to continue long distance so Brian figured it only fitting to propose there as well. Brian and Tory now live in Chapel Hill but Brian convinced Tory to make a trip down to Charlottesville for a couple days, all while holding in the real reason they were making the trip. We planned their proposal out on the lawn with the mountains in the back and Brian had a romantic dinner and evening already set at the Farmhouse after we finished photos. Elise and I hid inside the reception space at the vineyard as Brian got down on one knee and Tory squealed, “YES!” It was the perfect proposal. And Tory even said how impressed she was that Brian had taken her hint at wanting a photographer there. Haha!! So glad I got to be there to capture it!
As I think everyone knows by now, proposals are one of my favorite things about my job. Some people get super anxious doing them and actually turn them down but to me shooting proposals gives me a high and I hate when I have to turn them down because of other bookings. Brian and Tory were super fun to work with and I’m thankful Elise made sure everything went down without a hitch. I’m super excited to share these fun after-proposal photos with you today and be sure to check out Brian and Tory’s tie company called Julep Tie Company!! The bowtie Brian is wearing is one they sell in their online store and I had to share about it because I loved it so much!
