Jessica and Peter are just one of those dream couples that any photographer would be grateful to know. They’re so easy-going, photogenic, and fun and their wedding was the perfect reflection of that. I have been shooting more and more in Northern Virginia and Maryland which is always nice for me because I get to shoot at new venues and be inspired by that. Jessica and Peter married at the Birkby House in downtown Leesburg, Virginia which is the cutest little town. I started the day by walking around and scouting for some first look and portrait spots and had endless options against the adorable storefronts and homes. I’m usually shooting at farms and in the mountains so it was a nice change to be in a town, shooting with buildings rather than fields. 🙂
As usual I started the morning with details but time always flies on the wedding day and before we knew it, Jessica was in her gown and we were walking outside for the first look, where Jessica and Peter chose to see each other before the ceremony. I always LOVE this time because not only is it a private moment for just my couple, but it tends to ease nerves and allow them to be together for longer throughout their day and to get LOTS more portraits! We had a good thirty minutes or so after the first look just for bride and groom portraits and my heart was SO happy!!
After we finished up bride and groom portraits and bridal party, we went back up to the bridal suite to put Jessica’s absolutely breathtaking cathedral length veil on and I knew this was one of Jessica’s favorite things so I used that downtime to take some bridal portraits of her in the getting ready room and I think those shots go down in history as some of my FAVORITES. Jessica had specifically asked me to get a photo of her from behind walking down the aisle because she loved her veil so much but the wind blew it off right as she started walking down the aisle so I’m beyond glad we got those gorgeous shots beforehand. Just goes to show that having some buffer time in your timeline is AMAZING and allows for images like those to be taken!
It was so easy to photograph Jessica and Peter’s day and not only photograph it but really capture emotions and moments because they were so relaxed. They just simply enjoyed every minute and I think that really shows in their joyful images!! So without further ado, here are a few of my favorites from their fall wedding!
