The hardest part about traveling for photoshoots and weddings is that you often go alone. After doing a couple week-long work trips in Charleston and California where I traveled by myself, I realized I wasn’t a huge fan of it. So when I ended up getting a family portrait inquiry in Hawaii, I immediately knew I wanted to ask a friend to come along. Hannah and I traveled to CA together in 2014 when we were babies but haven’t traveled together since then so I reached out to her and she immediately said she wanted to go! When she discovered she had an old church friend currently living on the island, she connected with him and he reached out to his fiancée who was also on the island to see if she’d be up for letting us stay with her. She was kind enough to say yes and that just made the trip even more doable! I have been BEYOND blessed to have a free place to stay every time I go to Hawaii and I know that won’t always be the case but I’m grateful it seems to always work out.
So things fell into place, we booked our tickets, and we spent a week out on Oahu a couple weeks ago! I got to show Hannah the island and I’ll share more about the personal side of our trip when I blog the travel photos but I can’t tell you how much joy it brought me to show Hannah around and watch her excitement on every drive and place I took her. This trip to Hawaii really is one of my absolute favorites and I’m sure no one is surprised that I still love this island more than ever. Hannah and I went to a spot that I shot at on my first trip to Oahu for our photoshoot together and it was so fun being back! The weather is always a bit rainier on the east side of the island, where we did this shoot, but it ended up working out and we had enough light for a quick session!! Hannah, you’re gorgeous!! Thanks for letting me take a few pictures of you!!
