I just got back from Connecticut this past Sunday for a wedding and it was an absolute blast!! It has been a while since I’ve marked a new state off my list and being in CT was a first for me! My sweet roommate McKenna referred me to her college friend Liz last year after she got engaged and I absolutely love nothing more than shooting out of state so I was extra thrilled when she and Mack booked me for their day! McKenna was in the bridal party so we rode up together Thursday night and I had most of Friday to explore the quaint coastal town of New Haven!
I ended up booking an Airbnb right outside of New Haven in a little town called Clinton and it was the perfect getaway! When I shoot weddings, I’m usually a little bit anti-social the night beforehand because I’m mentally preparing to capture such an important day so I knew I wanted to have a space to myself and this adorable cottage didn’t let me down. It was originally built in 1755 and has since been remodeled and updated but it still has some of the original farmhouse elements! When I walked in, it smelled like an old cabin that had a wood fire going and I felt like I had taken a step back into history.
Airbnb really is one of my favorite things and I much prefer to stay in one as opposed to a hotel. It’s usually cheaper and so much more homey. This one was probably my favorite one I’ve ever stayed in so I knew I had to take a few pictures to document it. Anyone who knows me knows I love home decor and a well designed space so here’s a little peek into my place for the weekend!!
