I’ve visited Charleston a few times over the past four years and every time I go I love the city more. The last time I went was a few years ago with my best friend Megan. She was there for a conference and I came along just to spend time in the city! I ended up having a few full days alone while she was at the conference so I drove all over Charleston and the surrounding areas, explored the beach, and I think I walked every single street admiring the vibrant, charming homes.
When the same friend I visited the city with last time mentioned doing a small getaway with some other photographer friends in Charleston this summer, I was so excited and knew we had to make it happen! It ended up that a lot of our creative friends were able to take time off so we rented out an Airbnb in downtown Charleston and all nine of us spent last week together! It was the most encouraging, sweet time and although I knew the majority of the girls, the rest of them hadn’t met each other but it was so amazing how quickly everyone became friends. We made so many memories, ate a ton of good Southern food, and took hundreds of pictures! I haven’t had time to edit those yet but I had to get this shoot edited so I’m going to share the sunrise session I had with Ana of Lucky Penny Blog!
I always take pictures of my friends when I visit Charleston but I’ve never actually booked a shoot so I really wanted to make it a priority while I was there this time! As always when I’m traveling, I threw it out there into the social media world that I would love to do a shoot and when I got a message from Ana I was stoked!! Ana is an amazing fashion and travel blogger who just moved from NYC to San Francisco and just happened to be visiting Charleston at the same time as me.
I met her early one morning last week and we spent a couple hours wandering around the Battery and I captured a couple different outfits! Ana was so fun and easy to photograph and her fashion style is exactly what I love photographing so I had the best time! I’m so thankful the rain held off for us and we got to make this shoot happen! Ana, I hope you love these and I can’t wait to continue following along your blog and all the incredible places you go!
