I met Laura and J.C. for their engagement session at Red August Farm back in the summer last year and I just remember laughing so hard the entire shoot. They were hilarious together and it was so fun to watch. That day, I got to know them better since it was my first time meeting them in person and they shared with me the story of how they met, which was especially sweet and I will never forget it.
Laura and J.C. were actually neighbors when they met for the first time. Laura had seen J.C. around and always tried to find a reason to talk to him when he was at the mailbox. She didn’t know he felt the same way until one day she heard a knock on the door.
J.C. had no idea it was Laura’s birthday when he rang the doorbell to ask her out. There was an immediate connection and they ended up hanging out before the date they set because they were so excited. Laura had J.C. over for wine and cheese and without wasting any time, she asked if they could make it official.
One year later J.C. convinced Laura to hike Old Rag and he proposed at the summit. In Laura’s words, “He’s the most genuine, loving and thoughtful soul I’ve ever met. I tell him daily that I’m so lucky but he always replies ‘I’m the lucky one… lucky you answered the door.'”
So on that note, I’ll leave you with some of my favorites from their day back in the fall at Mount Ida Lodge!
