While I shoot in Northern Virginia a good bit, I rarely get to shoot in the center of D.C. by the monuments. In fact, I don’t think I’ve done a real D.C. shoot since the beginning of my career, so when Michelle and Austin mentioned it, I was super excited.
This ended up being the perfect day for a D.C. session because the government was shutdown. Haha. As terrible as that is, it made our lives easy because there weren’t many people out touring because of lot of museums were closed.
We started at the Library of Congress which is such a stunning building, inside and out, and thankfully it was open. We did a few photos outside and it got chilly so we ventured in to capture that beautiful architecture!
Then we walked right across the street to the Capitol to finish up there before the light was gone. I absolutely LOVE how these shots turned out and I feel like it was so fun to shoot in a place with such different backdrops from what I normally see in Charlottesville. It was inspiring and I’m excited to share Michelle and Austin’s engagement shoot today!
