John and Elizabeth first met in high school while running cross country back in 2009. Elizabeth decided that she could not go to prom with just anyone. She chose John (the boy with the slick 1995 Toyota Avalon that all the girls loved) and never looked back. Their first date was at the fine establishment known as Friendly’s, where John ordered the Hunka Chunka PB Fudge and Elizabeth ordered the Dippin’ Chicken. Later that night they saw the movie the Blind Side. John and Elizabeth continued to date through high school and college and on May 12th, 2017 John popped the question at Veritas Winery in Virginia. She said YES and that’s where I first met them!

There was an absolute downpour that day but John and Elizabeth ventured out into the rain in the vineyards with umbrellas and I captured the most romantic rainy day proposal ever! I was a little nervous about how it would turn out but it was so sweet watching them from the distance as they huddled under the umbrella to stay dry. Not many girls would be up for getting engaged in the pouring rain but Elizabeth’s tears of joy said a lot about her and John that day. They had been dating for eight years at that point so I’m sure they were both shocked to begin planning the best day of their lives.

They both love the Cape Cod area and began planning their dream day at a beautiful venue on the water called Pelham House Resort! When I heard from John and Liz soon after they finalized their date and venue that they wanted to bring me up to Massachusetts to capture everything, I’m pretty sure I jumped up and down because I was so excited. Nothing brings me more joy than getting to capture a couple like Liz and John in a place like Cape Cod. Their wedding was everything I imagined it would be and more. It was full of emotional and joy-filled tears and the most heartfelt love. I couldn’t help but smile as I edited their images! Take a peek at some of my favorites below!
