I don’t know how but I am one lucky photographer because I end up working with the nicest people in the entire world. I had only talked to Jennifer on the phone before their Washington D.C. engagement session so while I knew she sounded extraordinarily nice, I wasn’t sure what these two would be like in person. Well, they met me at sunrise at the Navy Yard and showed up with the biggest smiles and were ready to have a good time. I had been up really early that morning to get to D.C. by sunrise so seeing their excitement immediately woke me up and made the day more fun.
I love when I get to shoot in D.C. because it’s so different than anything here in Charlottesville. It is always nice to switch it up and be inspired by new scenery and architecture. The Navy Yard was so peaceful and gorgeous right as the sun was coming up and after our time there, we headed over to the Capitol where Jennifer and Hayden both work. It was such a special shoot because they gave me a private tour of the inside of the Capitol and we got to shoot on the Speaker’s Balcony with a clear view of the Washington Monument. Talk about a cool experience! I’m so thankful for their willingness to invite me into their workplace where they spend a lot of their time.
Jennifer and Hayden’s love warms my heart and I am so thrilled I get to capture them yet again at their wedding in just a few short months at Mount Ida! I’m so grateful for the time I get to spend with my couples before their wedding days because it allows us both to get to know each other and makes showing up on the wedding day even more exciting because we feel like friends! I know their wedding day will be breathtaking and a day they will never forget! I’m counting down the days but for now here are a few of my favorites from their shoot in the city!
