I first met Caitlin because she was in the community group I joined when I moved to Charlottesville. It wasn’t too long after I joined that our group became too large and we multiplied into two groups. We both ended up in separate groups but I will never forget how kind and welcoming Caitlin was! It’s no surprise that she ended up meeting Tom and falling in love shortly after!
I saw her with Tom at a church event about a year or so ago and I remember in that moment wondering if he was the one. Sure enough, I got an email from Caitlin a few months later saying she was engaged and was looking for a photographer! Their love for each other is so sweet and seeing them interact always reminds me how special it is to find your soulmate. They have such a pure, selfless, and Christ-like love for each other that is a beautiful example to those around them.
Caitlin and Tom’s wedding day at James Monroe’s Highland was a rainy one but that didn’t put a damper on their joy. I met Caitlin and the girls at a cute Airbnb in Belmont for getting ready and I just knew as soon as I walked in that it was going to be such a good day and Caitlin wasn’t going to let the weather ruin anything. After getting ready, we made our way to the venue for the first look and I will never forget Tom’s reaction when Caitlin finally tapped him on the shoulder. Through blurry eyes, they read their letters to each other and while I couldn’t hear everything they said, just seeing the emotion on their faces made me melt.
While it did rain most of the day, it honestly ended up being such a romantic and dreamy backdrop for all the photos. The bridal party was amazing for being open to taking pictures in the pouring rain and for that I am forever grateful. When I brought them out it was only sprinkling and then it decided to dump rain so you’ll probably notice in some of the pictures. Haha! Thankfully, Caitlin and Tom were flexible and when it stopped raining just before their ceremony, they were willing to run back out with me and get as many portraits as we could! I’m SO glad they did a first look before otherwise they wouldn’t have gotten any bride and groom portraits outside. It honestly worked out better than I could have dreamed and looking through these photos makes me so happy. I loved capturing this magical day and am thrilled to have a few favorites on the blog today! Enjoy!
