This sweet family session was one I walked away from feeling so proud of. I feel like as I’ve shot more and more families over the last year, I’m really getting the hang of how to work with kids and make it fun for them. These two girls were absolutely ADORABLE and so much fun. This gorgeous location at Turtle Bay is one of my all time favorites and it was especially beautiful this day. You don’t always get sunsets like this one so I was a happy photographer this evening.
We had a full hour for this shoot and sometimes that can feel like a lot for families but it really depends. Your kids honestly might surprise you! This time I was so glad we had an hour! It often makes for a more relaxed shoot since things aren’t as rushed. With an hour, we can give the kids time to play in between photos. This helps them come back more focused because they get a little break. I can also just capture those candid moments while they’re playing and they end up so cute!
A lot of people think with kids, they’ll only be able to handle thirty minutes and sometimes with a baby, this is true but I actually do find that with multiple kids in the toddler range, it’s helpful for me to have a little extra time to build trust and capture more variety. If something doesn’t work, we have plenty of time to change things and make sure we get enough shots that are really great!! If you’re inquiring about a family session with me, don’t be afraid of a longer shoot! You’ll probably be glad you did it!
