I almost never shoot sunrise but if I remember correctly, this family’s original sunset session got rained out so we moved to sunrise the next day. That’s usually what I have to do for families visiting since they don’t always have a lot of flexibility with their limited time. It still ended up being a bit rainy but I think because of the clouds, the colors of the mountains popped so well!! This is actually a favorite family session of mine! I loved working with the Mender family. Their little boy was SO CUTE!
This was only a thirty minute session but I feel like we got so much out of our time and captured multiple backdrops which I love! I try to be super efficient when shooting, especially when shooting young kids. You never know how long you have until they lose interest so we always start with the looking at the camera shots and towards the end, we often do a little more candid, child-led photos. That’s exactly how this shoot went and I’m so glad we did it that way!
I’ve talked about this before but some kids need more than 30 minutes to really warm up and not be rushed and other kids do best with 30 minutes. It really depends. I personally LOVE having an hour to not be rushed, especially when we are at a location that requires some walking like this one but 30 minutes sometimes works best for super little kids. In this case, all we needed was that 30 minutes!
Before this shoot, I had recently discovered this little path and I absolutely loved it for these first shots. It was perfect! And then we went down to the beach! I looooove this beach because it’s not just a sandy beach. There are tons of rocks and it just adds so much variety to shoots and kids loooove it! Hope you enjoy this cute family through my lens!
