Can you guys tell I shoot at Ko Olina a lot? If you haven’t been to Oahu, it’s where a lot of the hotels are and it’s super family friendly because there are four lagoons along the coast of all the hotels with a walking path leading to each one. It’s so beautiful!! I remember on my first trip to Oahu, my friend Megan and I discovered this area and we came multiple times! Not only is it the driest and least rainy area of Oahu but there’s a coffeeshop nearby and a restaurant on the water where you can get drinks and we just loved it! Any time it was raining anywhere else, we’d go to Ko Olina and it would be sunny!
This cute family was staying at Aulani if I remember correctly! Aulani is the Disney Resort here and it’s SOOOO cool!! I honestly want to do a staycation there with Raleigh and my husband Sam soon! For this shoot, I actually had never shot at this specific lagoon and this sounds silly but being a photographer on Oahu, I often end up shooting at the same spots over and over because it’s either convenient for my clients or they just like the location. It’s not often I get to do new spots so even when it’s something as simple as a new spot in the same area I normally shoot, it’s such a nice change!
The McNeill family had two wild boys and we had a lot of fun!! They were full of energy and their mom Casey handled it so beautifully! It was so cool to watch! Sometimes parents get a little stressed when their kids are pulling them in the water or being a bit crazy but she embraced it and it made me so happy!! I was able to capture such beautiful photos because she followed their lead instead of telling them “no.” Hope you love what we captured!
