Kathleen and Greg met on Tinder. Yes, Tinder. Kathleen had recently gotten surgery and was stuck at home in her NYC apartment. She got bored one day, tired of laying in her bed, so she jokingly signed up for the dating site known for its hookup reputation. She thought that it probably wouldn’t work out but to her surprise, Greg ended up being one of her first few dates and Kathleen was Greg’s first date. They met for pizza in Brooklyn and Greg admitted that his jeans were a little too tight that night so Kathleen unashamedly volunteered to eat the remains of his meal. Haha! Kathleen’s ability to just be herself on the first date obviously won Greg’s affection.
They dated a little over a year and things continued to go well so it eventually came time for Greg to start thinking about proposal ideas. He knew Kathleen enjoyed the parts of NYC that were off the beaten path so as he would go for his runs each morning, he took a map and marked some places in West Village that he loved. One of the first gifts Kathleen gave to Greg was a Christmas ornament so for the proposal, he made a wooden ornament, painted it red, and wrote a message on it. The day of the proposal, December 19th, he had hired a photographer, put the ornament in a holly tree, and casually invited Kathleen to “go for a walk” with him. Soon enough, he was down on one knee under the holly tree. Kathleen obviously said yes and now they’re planning their Charlottesville wedding at Panorama Farms!! They’re so excited to escape the hustle of NYC and be in the mountains this October for their big day! 🙂
By the way this engagement session went, I assume their wedding will be breathtaking. Kathleen has trusted me on every single thing involving her day and it has made my job so easy. She was in town doing some wedding planning a few weeks before the engagement session so she went out of her way to ask me to coffee and it was so nice getting to know her better before the engagement shoot because I felt like I was showing up to photograph a friend, which I was! I didn’t get to meet Greg until their e-shoot but as expected, he and Kathleen are the perfect match. Their sarcastic banter had me laughing within five minutes of saying hi.
Their session is truly one for the books. We shot all over the beautiful property of Waterperry Farm which has been a dream location of mine for a while and it certainly did not let us down!! Kathleen and Greg, you guys are amazing!!
